Is the Clarksburg Medical Group open?
Yes! Over the past few months we have remained open for patient inquiries and appointments. We have worked hard to continue to provide the same standard of care and availability for our patients - even during the peak of the pandemic. Our hours have not changed!
How do I book an appointment with my doctor?
Appointments are still being offered to patients by same day access. Please call the office between 8:30-1:00 on a day your doctor is in the office for a full day, and from 8:30-10:00 when your office is in the office for a half day. We are available for urgent and routine care at this time.
Will I come into the office for my visit?
Over the past few months doctors, just like all health care providers, have been limiting what care they provide in-person to help limit the spread of the virus.
With that being said, we are still able to manage most of our patients health care needs in an alternative way. When you call to book your same day appointment, reception will determine if the appointment would be better via virtual care or over the telephone.
What is virtual care?
In some cases, the doctors will request we book an appointment through virtual care. Although it can sound intimidating, it is very easy to manage! If you have a computer, tablet or cell phone and an email address you would be an excellent candidate. This process is very similar to being in the office, as you and the doctor are able to see and speak to each other. If you do not have the technology required, you will NOT be turned away.
What if my health concern can’t be solved remotely?
Every patient must begin with a virtual appointment or telephone call with our doctors. The doctors are able to accommodate some in office visits, however it is up to them to determine who qualifies for this and what precautions must be taken. Please note, per CPSO guidelines we are not currently accepting patients in office for Periodic Health Exams, routine PAP tests or elective vaccines.
What happens if I missed a telephone appointment with my doctor?
To accommodate social distancing protocols and for the safety of our staff, we have a limited number of doctors in the office at one time. If you are booked in for a telephone call with your doctor, please note that these are treated the same way as in clinic appointments. We ask that you please be available and ready to talk with your doctor at your scheduled time. If the doctor calls and does not get through, it is treated as a missed appointment and you will be required to call back on your own a different day. Please note, the doctors may come up as an “unknown caller” for their privacy.
Can I still access the Office Nurse during COVID 19?
We are no longer able to accommodate walk-in visits with our nurse as many of the nurses duties have been suspended during the pandemic. If you normally see the nurse without an appointment, please contact our office for more information.
What if my child is due for a well child exam and vaccine?
The doctors are still seeing children at their regular scheduled intervals. If you child is due for a routine well child exam or a catch up vaccine, please contact reception.
I had an appointment cancelled during COVID 19 and have not heard back, what now?
Many imaging and specialist appointments were cancelled at the peak of the pandemic to stop the spread of the virus and have not yet been rescheduled. Although the government has allowed some services to resume, there is a large backlog of patients needing to be rescheduled. Please be patient during this process as each specialist and facility have their own set of policies to follow and adhere to. If your medical condition has changed while waiting, please contact reception for a follow up appointment with the doctor.
I need to complete blood work but my regular lab is closed, what do I do?
Many outpatient labs were forced to close or cut back during the pandemic to stop the spread of the virus. The doctors are assessing the risk or benefit for each patient prior to sending to the lab. If you believe you are due for routine blood work, please contact the office. If you have been asked by your doctor to complete blood work, we strongly recommend you contact them directly for an appointment to avoid long lines in waiting rooms. If you are going to Meaford lab, please be aware appointments are now REQUIRED.
Dr. Fauser will provide care for Dr. Elkhuizen's patients while Dr Elkhuizen is working at the Collingwood General Marine Hospital during the COVID19 Pandemic.
